Ladd, accusing Sec retary of Agriculture .lames Wilson with trying to defeat the ends of pure food depart incuts has adopted drast ic measures amount iug to a defiance of the national food and discussion ceil lers around the probable results. A resolution was put through the con vention calling for a committee to draft a uniform pure food law, which all the states in the I'nion will be urged to adopt, and which will contain only such portions of the national law as the state associations deem best adapted to I he requirements of the stales. A commit tee is hard at work today drawing up Iheso measures. The action Is practically an announce ment that the states intend the matter of food legislation to remain in their own hands, due to their distrust ot the nation to adjust properly tho situation. Vice I 'resident Fairbanks at tended the convention veslerdav and expressed great Halisfaetion at the way lr. II. W. Wiley, head of the bureau of chemistry, had aided in the adoption of adeipiad pure food legislation. The convention decided to meet next vear ill IVnver Professor A. .
